How much does a website cost for an asbestos company?

Quotes for an asbestos contractor website range from a few pounds a month to five figures, often for what sounds like the same thing. This guide sets out the four ways to get a site, what each typically costs, what drives the price and the running costs most quotes leave out, so you can compare like for like.

Key takeaways
  • A website for an asbestos company can cost anything from a few pounds a month to well over £10,000. The price matters less than whether the site does the jobs buyers and AI tools check for.
  • Template builders are cheap to start and expensive in lost work: they rarely give you credentials in schema, real area pages or a cost guide.
  • A general agency can build a handsome site that still fails, because it does not know what a housing officer or an AI assistant verifies.
  • Budget for the running costs too: hosting, the domain and, if you want it to keep ranking, monthly SEO or AI visibility work.
  • Judge every option on the same 16 checks, not on the homepage design.

Why there is no single answer

Directors ask us this more than any other question, usually because they have been quoted wildly different figures for what sounds like the same thing. The spread is real. A website can be a template you fill in over a weekend or a site planned around the searches, credentials and proof your buyers check. Both are called a website; only one of them brings in work.

The typical UK ranges below are broad and conservative, and they vary by region and by what is included. Treat them as a guide to the market rather than quotes.

The four ways to get a website, and what each typically costs

OptionTypical costWhat to watch for
Do it yourself on a template builderFrom roughly £15 to £40 a monthFine for a one-van firm that needs a phone number online. Rarely includes structured data, proper service and area pages or a cost guide, and the time it takes you is time off the tools.
A freelancerTypically £800 to £2,500Good value if they write well and know local SEO. The risk is copy and credentials left to you, and no one to keep it current afterwards.
A general web design agencyTypically £2,500 to £8,000 or morePolished design and a proper process. The gap is sector knowledge: most have never heard of an ASB5, a four stage clearance or a prequalification level, so the site looks right and still fails the buyer's check.

What actually drives the price

Three things decide most of the cost, whoever you choose. The number of pages, because a site that ranks for licensed removal, surveys, garage roofs and testing in six towns needs far more than five pages. Who writes the words, because copy that answers a facilities manager's questions takes time and knowledge. And the technical layer most quotes leave out: structured data for your licence and services, an llms.txt file, a Google Business Profile set up to match, call tracking and redirects from your old pages so you do not lose existing rankings.

When two quotes look far apart, it is usually because one of them includes those things and the other does not. Ask each supplier to list them.

Before you pay anyone

Sixteen checks, three minutes. You will know which stages your site fails, which tells you whether you need a rebuild or just the right fixes, and lets you compare quotes like for like.

The running costs most people forget

  • Hosting: usually a few pounds to a few tens of pounds a month for a small business site, paid to the host. Some specialists, Envirorank included, include hosting and the domain free for the first year, so check what each quote covers.
  • The domain: typically under £20 a year.
  • Keeping it current: licences, insurance and prequalification renew, and a site that still shows last year's expiry date loses trust. Someone has to update it.
  • Ongoing visibility: if you want to keep climbing in Google and stay named by AI assistants, that is monthly work, whether you do it or pay someone to.

The cost that does not appear on any quote

A cheap website that fails the buyer's check costs you the jobs that went to the contractor whose site passed. Google's own data shows around 8,100 searches a month in the UK for "asbestos removal" and 5,400 for "asbestos survey". If your site is invisible or unverifiable for your towns, those enquiries go to a competitor or to a lead platform that sells them back to you, which we cost out in what lead platforms really cost per job.

How to compare quotes properly

  1. Ask for a written list of pages, not a page count.
  2. Ask who writes the copy and the case studies.
  3. Ask how your HSE licence, memberships and insurance will appear, and whether they will be in structured data. Our guide on showing credentials so machines can verify them explains what good looks like.
  4. Ask what happens to your existing rankings on launch day.
  5. Ask who owns the domain, the site and the logins.
  6. Score the supplier's own website on the 16 checks. If theirs does not pass, yours will not either.

What Envirorank charges

Our prices are published on the pricing page: one fixed price for the website, with everything on the list included and the delivery date agreed before we start, and optional monthly plans for SEO and AI visibility and for Google Ads. If the free check shows your current site only needs fixing rather than replacing, we will say so. Useful references while you compare: Google's guidance on helpful content, its PageSpeed Insights tool for testing any supplier's own site, and the HSE licensing pages your buyers use to check you.

Why this matters now

The cheapest website is the one that wins the work.

Buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT and Google AI to recommend asbestos contractors before they search or call. A template site that cannot be read or verified by those tools costs far more in lost work than it saves. A new website built for how asbestos work is bought, with ongoing AI visibility, is the version that pays for itself. See how AI search chooses asbestos companies.

Questions this raises

How much does a website for an asbestos company cost in the UK?

Typically anything from a few pounds a month for a template you build yourself to £8,000 or more from a general agency, with freelancers commonly in the £800 to £2,500 range. Envirorank publishes a single fixed price on its pricing page.

Is a cheap template website good enough for an asbestos contractor?

It can be enough for a one-van firm that just needs a phone number online. It is rarely enough to rank for several services in several towns, or to give commercial buyers and AI tools the credentials they need to verify.

What ongoing costs should I budget for?

Hosting, the domain and someone keeping credentials and content current. If you want to keep improving rankings and AI visibility, budget for monthly SEO work too.
